Legal Education Advisor, Group, Board Advisor
Oliver Codrington is a non-practicing barrister with an entrepreneurial drive and commercial mindset. Oliver spent the bulk of his legal career with the British Horseracing Authority and predecessor bodies, investigating and prosecuting corruption in the sport; however, as the Authority’s first Head of Compliance and Licensing and de facto in-house Counsel, he was also instrumental in the design and implementation of new licensing regime which brought in the Fit and Proper Persons test for the first time. Oliver was asked to advise the International Olympic Committee ahead of Beijing 2008, the Lawn Tennis Association, Football Association and several other bodies similarly getting to grips with betting related corruption in sport. Having now moved into a different industry, Oliver still sits as an Advisor to https://www.lawinsport.com/ and through Opus and Phoenix Groups (Ben Rees) maintains an advisory connection to the sports industry.
Since 2010, Oliver has advised numerous companies in different industries, including recently working with a Global Financial Institution on a global contract review process and liaison with their Recovery and Resolution teams across the world. Additionally, working with one of the most experienced and successful investment teams specialising in early stage businesses in the UK, Oliver oversaw the delivery of coaching on the government-backed Growth Accelerator program (a program set up to deliver 55,000 new jobs and £2.2bn economic growth within three years by focusing on the high growth prospects of SMEs).
Most recently Oliver has been focusing on growing London Wellness Centre Limited, a business he acquired with his wife in 2015. In the last 3 years, LWC has grown turnover 400% and is the fastest growing private preventative healthcare business in London.
